Where does Fallbrook Heating & Air work?
Our HVAC service areas start at home in Fallbrook and cover North San Diego County: Bonsall, Rainbow, De Luz, Pala Mesa, Valley Center, Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, Escondido, Carlsbad and Encinitas. We also serve Temecula and Murrieta in southwest Riverside County. In the founder's words, we work "inland to the coastal areas of North County."
The same family-owned company, the same phone number, (760) 728-8716, and the same California license, CA Lic. C-20 #638959, cover every town on this page. Pick yours below to see what we know about homes and HVAC in your area.
North San Diego County
Fallbrook
Our home town since 1972. Unincorporated, so permits go through San Diego County.
Bonsall
Our neighbor just south of Fallbrook, also in unincorporated San Diego County.
Rainbow, De Luz & Pala Mesa
Rural communities around Fallbrook, where many homes heat with propane.
Oceanside
Coastal and inland neighborhoods. Salt air is hard on outdoor AC units.
Vista
Inland city with warm summers and its own building department.
San Marcos
Inland North County city along Highway 78 that issues its own permits.
Escondido
Inland valley city that runs well hotter than the coast in summer.
Carlsbad
Coastal city with mild weather, where AC and heat pump questions both come up.
Encinitas
Beach town at the south end of our area, where older homes often had no AC at all.
Valley Center
Rural inland community east of Escondido: hot summers, cold nights, lots of propane.
Southwest Riverside County
Temecula
Riverside County, just north of Rainbow, with hot inland summers.
Murrieta
Riverside County, next door to Temecula, under South Coast AQMD rules.
How long does it take you to get here?
From our Fallbrook base it's usually 10 to 20 minutes to homes in Fallbrook, about 30 minutes to Rainbow and De Luz, and 30 to 45 minutes to most of North County, depending on the time of day and traffic on I-15 and SR-76. When you book, the office gives you an arrival window for your address.
Does it matter which city I live in?
For the work itself, no: the equipment, the energy code and our standards are the same everywhere. What changes is who issues your permit and inspects the job. Unincorporated areas go through San Diego County, each city has its own building department, and Temecula and Murrieta also fall under the South Coast air district's furnace rules.
- Unincorporated San Diego County (Fallbrook, Bonsall, Rainbow, De Luz, Valley Center and nearby areas): permits come from San Diego County Planning & Development Services.
- Cities in North County (Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, Escondido, Carlsbad, Encinitas): each city's building department issues its own HVAC permits and sends its own inspector.
- Riverside County cities (Temecula, Murrieta): the City of Temecula and City of Murrieta building departments handle permits, and the South Coast Air Quality Management District sets rules for gas furnaces there. San Diego County is not in that district. Check current status on the SCAQMD site.
Whichever one applies, replacing an AC, furnace or heat pump needs a permit, and California's Title 24 energy code requires duct testing with third-party verification. We pull and file the permit for you. Our guide to HVAC permits in San Diego County explains the process step by step.
What if my town isn't listed?
Call us anyway. The list above is where we work most, but North County doesn't stop neatly at city lines, and we may well cover your street. Call (760) 728-8716 or send us a message with your ZIP code, and we'll tell you straight away whether we can help.
